Thanks for contacting me.  I had heard about Bill's passing and of the details afterward, and I still can't believe he's gone.

I would have attended Bill's wake and funeral, but as I am located in Virginia it was impossible.  I would however like to extend my condolences to the family.

At this point, a couple of people on the O.C. Message Board are putting together some of his posting from the archives.  Once I get a copy I will definitely let you know.

I only knew him for three years through the message board and the dinner gatherings in New York, all connections to the show "The Odd Couple".  The first year when I met him was definitely a surprise.  He had originally used the screen name "Pushover Paige" (after a one-time character in one episode...who was incidentally a woman).  You can imagine our shock when this 6'3" man walks into the Press Box Restaurant (the setting location used in another episode) and announced that he was "Pushover Paige"!  One of the regular posters then suggested a male screen name of "Scooter Scott", heard only through Oscar's TV at the beginning of yet another episode, and a sportscaster to boot, which fitted Bill perfectly.

And it's true what everyone else stated in their tributes...that as soon as he entered the room, the event came alive.  Bill had this great enthusiasm and a warm personality that just made him unforgettable.  It was great fun going through some of the dialogues from the show verbatim with him last year; he and I also performed karaoke (his idea).  He did a song from the Doors (I forget the title), I did "We Are the Champions".  He had a great voice...I in the meantime sucked. :>)

This year's gathering will be very difficult to get through without him, but I'm contemplating to attend if only to pay a tribute to Bill / Scooter.  He was a very dear friend to me and he will be missed.

I hope you can use some of what I have written and if not, it's okay.  I thank you again for getting in touch with me and I'll send whatever messages he had posted your way if I can.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

Brian
